My Knock-Off OOT Bags
OK, I had all these ideas for OOT bags. First, I thought I could do boxes, kinda like An Atlanta Bride had, but I wasn't quite groovin' on the fancy-schmanciness of a bowed and boxed vehicle for a bunch of snacks. Her boxes were more than lovely. That chickie has some serious classy style.
I really like the super-cute bags from Maptote, but I am pissed that they don't have Nashville. I mean, come on. They have Charlottesville, Virgina, but not Nashville? Please. Anyway, even if they did have Nashville, I wouldn't have paid the $15.00 per bag cost anyway. The point is moot, other than they are uber-cute, if you live in the cities of bags they offer.

So then I had this idea that The Candyman and I could hold a welcome sign, take a photo of ourselves and then I could print it on a sticker and put it on a bag. The Candyman was NOT down with that idea. Next!
I tossed around a few ideas and then I saw that The Wedding Chicks had a new store on their website with super-cute totes and t-shirts. Well, I kind of took their idea and made it my own! I'm not positive if I'm going to use this or not. I'd like some feedback as to whether it's neat-o-burrito or way lame because I totally knocked-off the super cool WC's with an uber-cheap Thirty-Something Bride version.
Here's the skinny:
I went to cheaptotes.com and ordered 1 canvas bag ($.99) and 1 sheet of iron-on tranfer paper ($.99). Shipping the things cost more the items themselves. However, it was still cheaper than buying a package of iron-on transfer paper from anywhere, even with my trusty coupons. I really just wanted to test it out.
So then I shared some ideas with The Candyman, who suddenly started paying attention and wanted to know what the hell an OOT bag was and that we most certainly did not need them, whatever they were.
So I just decided to go for the simple LOVE idea from the WC's. I downloaded a font called Egyptienne Zierinitialien. Yes, that is the font name and it is a pain in the ass to work with. For some reason it doesn't print O's. But then it does. But then it won't. I have no idea why, but I worked it out. I spelled out LOVE and underneath put our names and wedding date. For that, I appropriately used the font called Nashville. Both fonts I downloaded for FREE! Love that about the Internet.
I tried some different colorways and came up with this:
Of course, it has The Candyman's name and not TMC, although I think putting The Candyman would be hi-LAR-ious.
The trick for me and my non-graphic-designer-all-I-have-is-Microsoft-Paint self was to get a mirror image of this so I could print it onto the transfer paper. I figured it out with out too much hassle and printed it off and ironed it onto my cheap $.99 cotton tote.
So far, I've got the following goodies for the OOT bags: 2 bottles of water, small fruit chew things from Costco, Rice Krispie Treats, Blow Pops, pretzels, chips, mini chocolate bars (the Halloween candy size), gum and Lance's cheese and crackers. It all fills up the bag quite nicely. Can anyone think of anything else that should go in here? I was additionally thinking of loading up on that week's edition of The Nashville Scene (our local indie rag) and popping them into the totes.
What does everyone think? I probably need to just pull the trigger as the count down to The Big Show seems to be speeding quickly down to zero at break neck speed. Lord, help me.

Last, but not least. Anyone out there have time to find me an ivory flower girl dress that isn't nasty frilly polyester? Oh, and I need a Etsy flower hair clip - stat. Suggestions?

Honest Scrap
The Future Mrs. Smith, a fellow Nashville bride to be, tagged me for the Honest Scrap Award. The rules are that you need to list 10 things your readers don't know about you. Then you tag 10 other bloggers to do the same...
1. I've got some freaky shoulder blades that allow me to clap behind me back (not with fingers pointing down, but just like in front, only in back!).
2. I'm a Marine Brat and have lived like, everywhere. Seriously, I've lost count of how many times I've moved. Pushing 30, I think. High 20's at least.
3. I wasn't going to go out on a second date with The Candyman because his eyebrows were like paint brushes, they were so long. A friend brilliantly informed me that eyebrows can be trimmed, but personalities could not be. She had a good point - and a correct one at that!
4. I was the height I am now (5'10") when I was 12. Yeah.
5. I have an older brother who is an amazing artist. He has a new website. Check it out!
6. The Candyman and I talked about having a "Puppy Pit" at our reception. Well, everyone loves puppies and we thought it would be fun to have a place to go play with puppies. It wasn't a serious consideration, but think about how fun it would be to go play with a pile of puppies!
7. I *heart* Bikram yoga, but am on a money saving hiatus. That shit ain't cheap.
8. I so wanted to be the popular girl in high school. Now I'm glad I wasn't.
9. I made extra money when I was 20-nothing and broke by entering dance contests at local clubs (no you freaks, they weren't of the stripping variety!). I won them too! :)
10. I drank a bottle of Tabasco on a $20 bet. I should have held out for $50. I was sober.
So I'm supposed to call out 10 more people, but I've been known to break a chain letter or two. Don't hate. Here's a picture of my kitty in the sunshine. How can you feel animosity when they are pictures of sleepy, warm kitties?

I have to say, the coolness factor over at Weddzilla is awesome. They were so patient with me and my travels - they waited for me to come back and get settled before throwing me into the ring! Big Bridal Fun
Weddings, The Bridal Show was held this weekend at the Convention Center here in Music City. Sharon over at Jonathon Campbell Photography hooked me and Liza from Maiden to Married up with some tickets. So sweet!
Liza and I had such a blast wandering around the show, chatting up people we knew and making new friends (not to mention making ourselves just a little ill from tasting cake samples!). I met Jessica (The Budget Savvy Bride), Ashley from Ashley's Bride Guide and Zach and Jody of Gray Photography, among many other wonderfully fun people.
I'll blog more about the details of the event later in the week, but I wanted to share the bestest part of the whole day with you as soon as I could.

A Quickie Question

Mornin' ladies.
The sleepy Thirty-Something Bride is posting early this morning. I've got to head down to Atlanta today to the Merchandise Mart for a trade show. I'm only there for a night, so still have the weekend for wedding planning activities, of which I believe I'm behind on.
The good news is that the Atlanta Mart has wholesale jewelry and "cash and carry" booths that I plan to visit to hopefully find earrings and hair accessories for The Big Show. Wish me luck.
So the question: when the hell do I send out my invitations? My wedding is October 11, 2009. The RSVP's are due back Spetember 15th (I'm hoping this was a good date to choose). How soon should I send them out? I was thinking August 1. My mom thinks they should have gone out already. Anyone know what I should be doing?
