It might be a little early considering the wedding is in October, but the invites have been ready. Sitting. Staring at me. It doesn't help that WeddingChannel.com emailed me and told me they should be mailed already.
My mom thinks they should have been mailed July 1st. I thought August 1st. WeddingChannel.com, July 11th. A myriad of websites that my photographer's wife looked up for me said 6-8 weeks. But here's the big question - 6 to 8 weeks before what? The wedding or the date on the RSVP cards? I never got a clear answer on that.
It doesn't matter, The Candyman mentioned mailing them and that was the nail in the coffin! Into the mail they went! We had some fun canceling them. What's funny is I think everyone got them on Monday and we mailed them Saturday afternoon. Let's hear it for the U.S. Postal System!
Anyone know the answer on when to truly mail? Not that I care since I've already sent them, but I would really like to know. I wonder what Miss Manners has to say about it!

I have no idea...our wedding is October 3 and we plan to get them in the mail tomorrow...it seems like everyone has different ideas on the "correct" timing of mailing invitations. Tonight I will be stuffing and stamping! Exciting!
ReplyDeleteI already sent mine back! They looked awesome! Great job!

The earlier the better! I would say 8 weeks before your RSVP date. Always build in buffer time because people will most definitely not RSVP on time.
ReplyDelete4-6 weeks before your RSVP date. 6-8 weeks before the wedding. Depends on if you sent out save the datea nd if lots of people are traveling.
ReplyDeleteOh how exciting, hope you get all the RSVP's soon! I think around now was a good time to send them - they do say 6-8 weeks before which would be fine if you sent save the dates i guess. Think im going to go for around 3 months before.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure we even discussed this (and as your planner I feel awful about it) but in my head, you said you'd send them when you got back from your trip and by my calculations, that's plenty (PLENTY) of time.
ReplyDeleteKatie's got it right, in case anyone else is a soon-to-be-bride.
